# MCP tool reference

> Every tool an AI assistant can use through the Cart Manager MCP integration, and what each one can see or change.

When you [create a token](https://codebeans-customer-cart-manager.mintlify.site/ai/mcp-integration.md#create-an-access-token), you choose which of these tools it can use. An assistant can only see the tools its token allows.

## Read tools

These tools only look at data — they never change anything in your store.

> **Shop overview**
>
> Your active plan and features, this month's usage against your limits (tracked carts, draft orders), cart counts (live, today, abandoned, ordered, archived), total cart value, and a summary of your widget setup.

> **List carts**
>
> Lists carts using the same views as the dashboard — **all**, **carts**, **live** (last 30 minutes), **today**, **week**, **abandoned** (inactive over 1 hour, not ordered), **archived**, or **browsing**. Supports search by Cart ID or customer name/email, and pagination.

> **Cart details**
>
> Everything about one cart: items and totals, customer and address, checkout/order status, your notes, contact history, linked draft order, and the activity feed (if your plan includes it).

> **Analytics**
>
> Totals for sessions, carts, cart value, orders, order value and cart-to-order conversion over the last 1–90 days (default 60), with a day-by-day breakdown. Needs a plan with Analytics.

> **Draft orders**
>
> Lists the app's draft orders with their cart, customer, item count, total, Shopify sync status, and where you are against your monthly draft order limit.

> **Draft order details**
>
> The full editable state of one draft order — items, attributes, note, tags, metafields, customer, totals, sync status — plus your store's draft order metafield definitions.

> **Search products & customers**
>
> Searches your catalogue for product variants (title, SKU, price, availability, image) or your customers (name, email, country), so the assistant can use real products and customers when building a draft order.

> **Settings**
>
> A summary of your configuration: widget template, audience, pages, Cart ID format, popup and support form, and email notification settings. **SMTP passwords are never returned.**

## Write tools

These tools make changes. Good assistants confirm with you first — but only give write tools to tokens you trust.

> **Log contact**
>
> Adds an entry to a cart's [contact history](https://codebeans-customer-cart-manager.mintlify.site/carts/contacts-and-tickets.md) — **Customer contacted us** or **We contacted customer** — with optional notes. It appears on the cart in the app just like one your team logged.

> **Create draft order**
>
> Turns a cart into a real Shopify draft order — the same as **Convert to Draft Order** in the app — and returns a link to it in Shopify admin. Needs a plan with draft orders and counts towards your monthly limit.

> **Build & manage draft order**
>
> The full [draft order builder](https://codebeans-customer-cart-manager.mintlify.site/draft-orders/builder.md), step by step:

> | **create** | Starts a new draft in the app — blank, or from a cart. Not in Shopify yet. |
> | **update** | Changes items (including custom items with a title and price), note, tags, attributes or metafields. |
> | **assign\_customer** / **remove\_customer** | Attaches or removes an existing customer. |
> | **create\_customer** | Creates a new customer in Shopify and attaches them. |
> | **sync** | Creates or updates the real draft order in Shopify. |

> Needs a plan with draft orders; creating a draft counts towards your monthly limit.
